Lincoln’s own Beerheadz bar opened just over a month ago and their beer game is still going strong. They’ve got an impressive line up with ten keg lines, six handpulls and a couple of fridges packed with canned and bottled craft beer. They also have a small selection of ciders and wines.
BeerheadZ is a chain of craft beer and real ale bars around the East Midlands. Beginning in Retford and Grantham, with Nottingham Train Station and Lincoln being the most recent editions.
From local beers to breweries the other side of the country —including Weird Beard Co., Neonraptor, Abbeydale, Lincolnshire Brewing Co, Cloudwater, Cat Asylum, Boundary and Wild Weather Ales— BeerheadZ have had a fantastic selection of craft beer from day one. It’s often easy for the selection to weaken after the first batch of eye-catching beers but every one of BeerheadZ’ bars keep bringing new and interesting beers every week.
They’re not in one of the most beautiful buildings in the Bailgate (situated on Eastgate, just after the White Hart when walking from Castle Square) but it’s bright and airy in the bar and the colourful murals on the wall are stunning. All of the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and almost as excited about the beers as I am.
The wooden bench/booths aren’t the comfiest but the power sockets are very lone-drinker friendly and i’m hoping to spend a few more quite afternoons working with a selection of thirds in the near future. Yes—thirds! *cough cough* Strait And Narrow *cough cough*. When there’s such an extension range of beers it’s brilliant being able to work down the taps without having to roll down Steep Hill afterwards.
Though not the cosiest of establishments, BeerheadZ is definitely something the Lincoln beer world needs. It’s the only place with a majority focus on beer and they’re constantly getting new and exciting products in. Hopefully they’ll be getting plenty of customers in willing to brave the hill… some of their regulars so far are delightful.
And I am yet to decide how much the excessive “Z”s annoy me.
Good news, the other Beerheadz are excellent, seating apart😱
What’s wrong with Strait & Narrow, though ?

No thirds! It’s their only failing.

Ah. That’s pour form, particularly with their range.
