Remember when I told you that Lincoln was finally getting a gaming bar? Akēdo has now opened up to the public on Corporation Street and it’s growing fast.
Over two floors the bar has three Sony PlayStation 4s, two Nintendo Wii Us, a PlayStation VR set up, and four arcade machines that have over 10,000 games on. Owner Toby has also been switching up the retro consoles on the bar where you can challenge the top score and win yourself a free drink.
The choice of games is wonderful and I’ve already lost hours playing Tekken 3 on the arcade machines and losing terribly at Mario Kart. There’s also plans in the works for low tech board game evenings and competitive events with games such as football simulator, FIFA.
I’m really chuffed with the drinks they’ve got in. Toby and barman Alex both make a mean Stokes coffee, there’s a handful of craft beers (including Brewdog Punk IPA, Magic Rock Salty Kiss and Hitachino Nest White Ale) as well as Asahi and a selection of soft drinks. For a small bar with a very particular audience I think it’s fantastic that they’ve got a high standard of drinks on offer rather than everyday brands.
Come along, support a local independent business and challenge me at Tekken.
